Kenowa Courier – 7/2/19

At our club meeting today we focused our attention on a website review led by new member, Andy Tabisz. Andy has already done work on the site updating our newsletter archive, putting more info on who the Kenowa Ambucs are and what we do (history, AmTrykes, etc.) and linking the site directly to Facebook. Coming attractions include adding spam software (to impede the stream of messages from Russia), highlighting recent club achievements and creating a fillable membership request form. Overall, the hope is for a more engaging website for our visitors. Andy asked for and received feedback on other hopes the membership has for the site. Thanks to Andy for diving in on this project.

REMINDER: We are still seeking a willing volunteer to serve as the club Vice President. No bounty (at this point) but please consider if you can help us out in this way and contact President Dawn Martinson.

We Interrupt This Program . . .

Group discussion/brainstorming at the last meeting led to a suggestion from member Scott Pastoor that Kenowa Ambucs members do a series of 30-second public service announcements for broadcast on his radio station, WYGR – “The New Jethro”, 94.5 FM. The idea would be for willing members to introduce themselves and their business and indicate why you are an Ambuc in a very short sound bite. If you are willing to record a spot, contact Scott (scott@wygr.net) now. He will take your talking points, write up a 30-second script and schedule recording in his Grandville studio. Easy peezy.

Denim & Diamonds

Denim & Diamonds Committee: The committee met last week and will meet again on July 24 at 9:00a at Kelli’s office in Grandville. Please stop in. Thanks to Ron VanSurksum, we have a repeat headlining sponsor in Advanced Asset Management and several sponsors at lesser levels. These sponsorships are critical to our success so please see the attachments to this email with additional information on how you can become a sponsor. A critical need is also securing items for the silent auction and President Dawn has asked every member to make the effort to donate or secure at least one item from business, friends, family, etc. The event will be held on Friday, October 11 from 6-11p at the Pinnacle Center in Hudsonville. Contact Beth (446-7026 or sarahbeth3900@gmail.com) for more details, to sign up as an event sponsor or to donate silent auction items.

Big Hat Days: The first club meeting of September, December, March and June are Big Hat Days (BHD). Big Hatters, please wear your Stetsons to the club meeting on those dates. Next BHD is September 3.

Fun Fact (Radio version): According to ponduweb.com, a Neilson/Pew study determined that 92% of American millennials encounter radio in some form during the week and that radio is valued by 93% of everyone surveyed (beating 85% for TV and 74% for smartphone use).

Quote of the Day: “The powerful chords that emanated from the radio heated me from the

inside out, like a microwave.”
