Kenowa Courier – 6/18/19

Summer time (as indicated by the calendar, not the weather) can be a busy time for everyone with travel and vacation time on top of work obligations; but we hope all members will make it a point to participate in our twice monthly lunches when you can so we can keep up our momentum on club projects and stay connected with each other.  Scheduled remaining summer meeting dates are July 2 and 16 and August 6 and 20. We are also still seeking a VP volunteer for 2019-20 and need member suggestions as to future speakers. Please contact President Dawn Martinson with your ideas.

In kicking off a new Ambuc year, Dawn led us through a discussion of ideas for generating more ways to get the word out about who the Kenowa Ambucs are and what we do.  The latter list is rather impressive and includes AmTrykes, adaptive golf, playground equipment, scholarships, the new mobi mat in Georgetown, the Memorial Day race & parade, Denim & Diamonds and more.  Our brainstorming led us to the possibility of a series of short radio spots on Jethro FM (thanks to Scott Pastoor) featuring current members telling who they are and why they are Ambuc members.

Andy Tabisz of WorkSmart joined us at lunch today.  He spoke to us this past year about adaptive home equipment and applications and is now joining the club.  Andy volunteered to help us out with our club webpage and contributed to the brainstorming session. Welcome, Andy!

Daytime Fun (Not Night Putting)

Curt “Judge Smails” Stuck wasn’t able to be with us today but Ron and Brad reported on the June 11 Kenowa Ambucs Adaptive Golf Clinic at the Pines Golf Course.  15-20 golfers comprised of both youth and adults including veterans participated in the driving range, putting green and a few holes of golf before enjoying pizza donated by Pizza Hut (thank you to the Hut).  Our deep gratitude to our gracious hosts at the Pines for again making their facility available and coordinating the action and to Curt for setting this up.
