Kenowa Courier – 4/16/19

The group gathered again today at Sunnybrook and it was good to welcome back Snowbirder Brad Cook. We heard that the Memorial Day parade apps have hit 20 which is ahead of the usual pace for this date. A good turnout of runners is also expected for the 5K. Please plan to attend the regular club meeting on May 21 when we will take on the task of stuffing 450 runner swag bags with the assistance of the young adult students of the Grandville Transitions program and their teacher, Emily Mann.

For those of you whose businesses wish to take advantage of a free marketing opportunity, you are invited to contribute 450 trinkets, tokens, coupons, etc. for inclusion in those runner bags. Your items need to be in our hands in time for the May 21 bag assembly.

Come Meet Lyla – May 7

A reminder to all members that we will have a very special guest at our next club meeting on May 7. Lyla Gritter is an amazing little girl from the area engaged in a trial program in Dallas to treat her Type 1 Spinal Muscular Atrophy. She will visit the Kenowa Ambucs with her mom, Holly, at that lunch meeting. The Kenowa Ambucs, via the Family Hope Foundation, sponsored some of Lyla’s therapy in 2018. Please make an effort to attend on May 7 to greet Lyla and her mom along with Jane Eppard of the Family Hope Foundation.

The annual Kenowa Ambucs Adaptive Golf Clinic will be Tuesday, June 11 from 10a to 1p at the Pines Golf Course on Byron Center Avenue in Wyoming. Our golfing guests will practice on the range and green and then play a couple of holes prior to a free pizza lunch. Members are needed to host the event, assist our golfers and eat some pizza. This is a big event for these folks so please put this on your calendar and turn out for a good time with good people.
