Kenowa Courier – 2/5/19

Present for today’s chapter meeting were David, Dawn, Scott, Beth, Rod, Doug L, Doug P, Ken and Marty along with our speaker, Grandville Mayor Steve Maas.  The Mayor informed us of all that is currently happening in Grandville and had a lot to share:  He highlighted the Grand Castle, a future Grand River dredging project to open up the river to power boat navigation from Grand Rapids to Eastmanville, a new ADA-compliant kayak launch that opened last fall, a 2019 watermain and resurfacing project on Ivanrest Avenue, a library expansion (2020), the Grandville-Walker Foundation, an update to the Park & Recreation Master Plan, a Clean Water Plant bio-gas project, construction of 3 new hotels, the opening downtown of a coffee shop and a distillery, a cemetery expansion, a tree grant that will result in 50+ new trees on public property and a fireworks ordinance change.

The speaker at the next (February 19) meeting will be Janet Korn of Experience Grand Rapids, which is the visitor’s bureau for the Kent County area.  It should be a very interesting program and we would like to have a good turnout so please attempt to attend this meeting, if you are able.
