Today’s Meeting:

We had a very nice turnout of a dozen Kenowa Ambucs at our field trip to Harbor House Ministries today.  Harbor House provides 24-hour care to 36 adults with disabilities on its 44th Street campus in Georgetown Township which consists of multiple units constructed in 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2010.  One aspect of Harbor House’s personalized care is music therapy which is provided by the Franciscan Life Process Center (FLPC).  The FLPC’s Development Director (Carol) and one of its Music Therapists (Miranda) provided us with an opportunity to directly participate in music-making today that included drums, bells, scarves, clapping and stamping our feet as we “Walked Tall” in song.   FLPC provides multiple services from pre-birth (fertility) to end-of-life (hospice) and in between (counseling, arts, retreats).  The Kenowa Ambucs capped the lunch with a $1,500 donation to their music therapy efforts at Harbor House which will be well-used and much appreciated.  (It was our first opportunity to break out our new ‘Happy Gilmore’ BIG CHECK!)
