Kenowa Klassified – 8/5/14

The Official Newsletter of the Kenowa Chapter of AMBUCS – Chartered May 28, 1957. President: Beth Van Wieren – Vice-President: Mavis Byers – Treasurer: Doug Levering Secretary: Kelli Williams – Sergeants: Kay Janus and David Hodge

Today’s Meeting:

Your Klassified this week is courtesy of guest editor, Scott Pastoor. Thank you, Scott.

We had a good crowd for a summer meeting — 25 in attendance including AMBUCS, guests, and speaker. Cheri brought Ken Holbrook from First Data (her credit card rep),

Hodge brought Jaime Zeien from Bolhouse Law (non-profit attorney – meaning she specializes in non-profits, not that she’s personally losing money)

and Jaime brought Deb & Wayne Leachman from the HisAbility program at Kentwood Community Church (pending request for some Go Bus passes for attendees Mike and TJ).

The meeting started promptly at 12:12 after President Beth finally made her way to the gavel and our speaker was Karen Horrigan, Social Media Expert/Consultant, of Kareismatic LLC, talking about how to build your brand on “LinkedIn”. LinkedIn is the world’s largest social media site for business professionals. I took a bunch of notes, but then realized I was just duplicating her hand-out (which is attached) so I quit.

Katie Kamyszek will speak at our next meeting. Katie is the daughter of Marty’s Office Manager and she has received Kenowa AMBUCS scholarships several times over the years for both undergrad and grad school. She is now a fully-licensed and EMPLOYED Speech Therapist and wanted to come by, bring us up to date, and say thanks.

50/50 Winners: Apparently Scott didn’t think to write this information down – but if you won, you know who you are.

Congratulations to Kelli Williams

Kelli Williams has been named the Kenowa Ambucs 2013-14 Project Manager of the Year for her work organizing the Memorial Day race signups. Kelli and the Chapter’s “Ambuc of the Year” Beth VanWieren will now vie for Regional honors.

Dance, Dance Revolution

The 3rd annual Jenison Street Dance is a week from Saturday on August 16. Volunteers are needed, but you’re too late for a volunteer t-shirt unless you responded to the earlier e-mail (asking who needs a volunteer t-shirt).

Pre-Party is this Thursday, August 7 at Culver’s (by the time you’re reading this, it’s basically the volunteer t-shirt situation all over again).
